A Hot Dog & A Shake !!


Another Great Week of training !!I have run the past 10 days straight and nothing to complain about.I have been up & running the past 2 morning as it has been hell hot here and not getting any better. I am now going to take the next 2 days off and just rest then I am back at it again on Monday.Feeling really good and I even took it a few feet further today. Just felt the energy was there and I felt good so why not push it a little so I just kept running.Really felt strong at the end so all of this is starting to pay off.Really great weekend planned so CHEERS !!!

What A Long Strange Trip It's Been..


It's been 14 days since my last posting-Really? Seems longer but Oh well.Still out there hitting the pavement and I am feeling better and stronger.Have a pretty good route marked out and I am following the schedule pretty good so I am seeing results and I should be ready to do the Huntington Beach Half in February.I was just thinking on staying with my current regiment then going to "2 A Days" in October.I Have to start working on getting up in the morning .That seems to be my weakness.Other than that I am fine.Until Tomorrow...

It's Easy Taking It Day By Day..


Another great training day ! Feels like it is getting easier every time that I go out.I am feeling stronger about my running as well.I am still out for 40 minutes but I am running a lot more and it really feels good.Back pain is gone ( but not forgotten) and I am starting to notice a little change ( not much but so).I have even gotten out of bed for a few early morning sessions ( which I hope to partake in tomorrow ) and then perhaps an afternoon session as well then I take the weekend off to evaluate my progress.Until tomorrow morning.

Boom Boom Out Go The Lights....




I did it.What I have been stressing over since I have started my training program.Every time I start a program I do this but now I guess that I have it out of the way I can stop obsessing about it.What I am talking about is I fell.I was into my running portion of my training and I was just going along and I caught my left toe on an uneven portion of the sidewalk and "down goes Frazier" I was out.Skinned my left knee and chewed up my palms but I sat there for a moment and then just jumped up and continued on and it was fine.Just feel stupid about it but whats done is done so just go.Get out there and rack up some miles.I'll feel better about it .......

Work,Work,Work....


Working towards that goal is hard. I took 3 days off and what a difference.Yesterday was awesome.Added a couple of blocks to my route and even with that it only took me 36 minutes.Today same route but it took 40 minutes,so go figure.Anyway felt really slow and rusty today but still went out and put in the miles.Not going to stop- ever !! I figure that I took enough time off getting out of shape that I can not stop again -EVER !I feel good though and the program seems to be working for me so I am going to follow this through and see what happens.Hopefully tomorrow will be as good or even better than today.

It's A Beautiful Day....



What A great workout today !Just got back from a great 40 minute workout session and it
went well.I never felt better and I did a little more than my usual route and ran a bit further today as I just had 2 days off. What a difference a couple of days rest will do for your total workout. I really feel good !! Just hope that I can get another wo in tomorrow .Let's keep this ball rolling..

What A Week !!!!



It has been a great time since my last entry.I have begun my "2 a days" .Still not getting up in the am to work out but I do make time after work and later in the evening ( ah the city of Orange at midnight .....)It's been great and I can feel some progress being made.I have increased my running and my back feels great and I am now logging the necessary mileage.Everything is beginning to fall into place now I just can not become complacent in my training ritual....

Another Great Day For Training !!!!


Went to Hart Park again after work and turned in a great workout ! Perfect setting ( trail) and the weather was great and it was the perfect thing to do after a hard work day .It is great to get out and just wander around in my head while I am out running kind of "clearing my mind". I plan on getting up early again tomorrow to work out so that I can just get off work and relax and get my weekend off to a great start. Hope that I can get out of bed tomorrow on time.

What A Great Morning !!


I did it ! I finally got up early enough to train in the morning and what a lovely morning it was ! Hardly any traffic and far less people to deal with ! It was great and I knocked a few seconds off my usual route ( actually it was 7 minutes!). anyway. it was perfect and I really felt good. I am going to try this for the next few days and then it is on with the "2 a days". I do wonder though, why does it take for ever to get through the work day and the precious few minutes that I get to myself pass so quickly??

Walking On The Sun....


What A Day !!! Got off work a little early and went to Hart Park and used the trail to train and it was fabulous!! I worked hard and gutted this work out out and it felt great.I feel so good and alive that I am planning on getting up early tomorrow morning and hitting it.I just hope that I can get out of bed. That seems to be the hardest part for me.Have to start doing that as I am got to switch to "2 a days" next week. Hope I can get out of bed.....

How Time Flies.....


Here it is July already and I still have not gotten it together enough but I have not quit!! I have begun a "new" training of sorts and it seems to be working good so far. I found a triathlon training and kind of "adapted" to my schedule and it seems to be working. Last week was my first week with the new program and it started off good !! This week I have begun the "meat" of the program and yesterday was my first day and it went well.I will let you know how today's training went later.It is off to the salt mines for me...

It's amazing what a good nights rest will do for you ,too bad I don't know what that is .Thanks to the dick who deemed it necessary to come into the apartment complex and help themselves to what ever they want.You bastard !! Not only did you get my old neighbor righteously fired up but you woke me up in the process.After going back to sleep for about another hour I just couldn't sleep anymore so I got up , made a pot of coffee and thought about starting my "two a day" this morning and after yesterday's fiasco I thought that it couldn't possibly suck any more and I was right.This morning was great less traffic ,not too many people out and the run was awesome ! I felt great ,relaxed running,back pain was light and I still feel good!! Now I am off to a great day.Hope I get off work early today :-)

PAIN !!!!! It's A Good Thing???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!


What a horrible run this afternoon.I have been running on & off since my last posting ( mostly off) and this afternoons run sucked.My back pain is still right there and it is really hindering my performance.The only "bright side" of todays run is that I was out for 25 minutes and it was nice being in Hart Park along the trail.It felt good to be outside enjoying the sun and fresh air for once and I have really given a great deal of thought to running "two a days" Once in the morning and again in the evening. Sounds good for now the only problem is that I can not seem to get out of bed once the alarm goes off. We shall see what tomorrow brings....

Getting Better,Better All The Time...


I really felt good this evening.Run went well and I can only attribute this to an other new pair of shoes.I bought 2 new pairs of shoes yesterday and today I used the second pair and they felt great. I really ran farther and longer and I still had some back pain but not too bad and I was able to finish strong .Just going to rotate shoes every day and perhaps I will start my "2 a days" tomorrow morning but I don't know,It is a real bitch getting up and I really do not want to press my luck and injure myself.So we shall see when the morning comes....

Nothing Better Than A New Pair Of Shoes !!!



Now that's more like it !! I ran a couple of times last week but not really good runs.Back pain is still there and I really tweaked my right calf the last run. Running intervals on a hill and on my sixth time up the hill I heard a loud "snap" and felt something "pop" in my right calf and that was it game over. I limped back to my car and took it easy for 2 days and then hit the road again and the calf felt fine but the back pain was still there so today while I was out I stopped by Big 5 and bought 2 pairs of running shoes and I tried a pair out on the hill and it is a major improvement.No real back pain and I felt good through out so now I am going to try "2 a days" tomorrow.I just have to get up ....

KING OF PAIN !!!


What A rough weekend ! I ran Friday ( sorry no post) and it sucked.The back support is not working at all .Intense pain all throughout the run and it was just a miserable time for everyone.Took yesterday off and then ran again this afternoon and it was not too bad still pain and I had to walk a lot but still got it done.Planning on running tomorrow too ! Just hope that I can gut it out!!!

Sometimes,It;'s good to be the King......


I think that I have a solution to my constant back pain /seizing problem.I bought a back support and it seemed to help some still a little pain involved but it was not too hellish and I did turn in a pretty good run ! This morning I am going to really try and run before work and also again when I get home from work and then possibly twice everyday during this 3 day weekend !!!Party On Wayne !!

What A Great Run Today !!! I took the past 2 days off to rest my back and legs.I started out ok and settled into my run and just ignored my persistent seizing back and just ran.It worked and I went even farther today and still feel really good now ( 2 hours afterward).Beers for everyone and the first and last rounds are on me !!!

What The F*@& !!!!!!


I just do not understand this.My back is not getting any better in fact yesterday was probably the worst run I have ever had in my entire life. My back seized up pretty bad that I had to walk most of my route and today was not any better.I even tried a muscle rub first and bought some new inserts for my shoes and still nothing.I think my next step is a tens unit !! I will not give up the fight I will run through this pain until I can no longer walk the way I see it it has to get better NOT worse !!!

Havin' A Great Day.......


What A Day!!!After waking up numerous times early this morning I finally got up at 9:00 and fooled around with my computer and then I went for a great run at noon.It was sunny & warm and I really felt great. It was a great run to say the least! I am really feeling it and I feel as if I am making progress .I shall begin tomorrow morning on 2 a days as I think that now is the time that I "kick it up a notch". I know it might be a little too soon but I think that I have pushed myself enough that I am able to handle this change the trick will be in getting up every morning to do it.We shall see tomorrow.....

I'm Back In The (NY) Groove.....


I am back with a vengeance .I feel a renewed spirit to running as I now have a purpose .I am now training for the Long Beach Half Marathon and I feel good about this.I was speaking to a co-worker the other day as she has just begun to run and is training for the Long Beach half and she asked me if I'd like to run it with her ? I said yes and another co-worker stated "Why on earth do you want to do that? You're too old" I was taken aback by t his comment so I guess that you could say that gave me the kick in the pants to do this.I have begun my training schedule and so far not too bad.My back is still seizing up and today's run was pitiful as I took the dog out with me and she had to stop every few feet to mark her territory.But yet ,I still felt good and it feels like I am making progress.Granted I still have a long long way to go but at least I am on my way.

I Was Gone But Now I'm Back ( I Think)


Here it is,Exactly 8 months since my last posting and I have done NOTHING.I did pick up a new hobby-Brewing my own beer.It's fun but not really helping my cause.As you can probably tell I did not run or for that matter train for the Long Beach Marathon.I hate myself for that and I have really started a downward spiral.I really need to get into shape and now is the time.I have started to get my brain into think about doing something and I can feel a change coming.I just need some type of motivation and I just don't know where that is going to come from but it has to start somewhere and I just feel it is coming soon.....
